The simple answer is no. But why do people think it is a steroid? Is it because it helps you grow more muscle while taking it than not taking it? The simplest way I can explain it is that creatine is made up of the same things you’ll find in some fish and meats. It has the chemical formula (HN)CN(CH₃)CH₂CO₂H. Since creatine is in some foods naturally it is very simple to assume that it is safe to take. Unlike any type of steroid used for bodybuilding in an unnatural way. Taking creatine also caused no androgenic effects and does not latch onto or effect estrogen cells in any way. Basically, all creatine is known to do (which is known because forms like creatine monohydrate has been researched for more than 30 years) is to hold water more in between broken muscle cells giving you a more full, watery look. This watery look should not be confused with water weight, they are completely different things. But of course, if you do drink over the amount of water you need in a day without any activity and taking creatine, then you can expect to gain some water weight along with the water that is retained in the muscles, leaving you possibly looking watery and/or bloated in a way.
